Ban Mo Market (ตลาดบ้านหม้อ), the largest source of electronics, audio, and electrical products in Thailand, both wholesale and retail, offer lower prices than other places in Bangkok.
It is also home to repair services for electrical appliances, including audio equipment, speakers, TVs, radios, fans, air conditioners, and refrigerators.
Most people who walk here are mechanics, students, electronics and IT dealers, and regular customers who bought for their use (DIY), mostly men. Merchandises sold here can be negotiated with the sellers.
Located in Wang Burapha Phirom Subdistrict, Phra Nakhon District, Bangkok, the Ban Mo historical road was built in 1863 during the reign of King Rama IV.
There is a starting point along the Chao Phraya River at Soi Rong Ya (old). It is a route that connects Maharaj Road with Charoen Krung Road and stretches through Chakphet Road to the Si Kak Phraya Si Intersection.
This area was racially diverse in the past, covering Phra Phithak Road, Atsadang Road, Soi Thip Waree, near Khlong Thom in the Worachak district and not far from Pak Khlong Talat.
Ban Mo neighborhood, a legendary audio and electronic equipment source, is open for sale every day, from 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Both sides are lined with stalls and shophouses with old and modern buildings.
Many kinds of goods in the market, including audio equipment, electronic equipment, electronic spare parts, circuit devices (Transistor, IC Resistor, Capacitor, Relay, Switch), IT equipment, electrical equipment, home theatre set, home entertainment, beautiful lights, bulbs, and LED spotlights.
Furthermore, one can find CCTV karaoke set, various measuring instruments, multimeters, power supplies, power rails, transformers, power mixers, remotes, speakers, amps, mixers, microphones, headphones, batteries, chargers, tools, wires, connectors, plugs, jacks, various experimental kits, tool bags, screwdrivers, soldering irons, pliers, oscilloscopes, electronic books, and computers.
There are also signal cables, car cameras, diving cameras, digital TV cameras, TV poles, switches, motors, electrical appliances, IP cameras, solar cells, squirrel hole fan, green card coil, LED, neon glass sign, flash, string lights, selfie lights, mosquito swatters, siren lights, flashing lights (for home, car or shop decorations), and roadblocks.
New technologies and products related to electronics are ordered from the manufacturer in Thailand, and some are imported from abroad, including China and Taiwan.
Many big shopping malls and stores are distributors and service centers of famous brands.
The word “Ban Mo” means pottery village; it came from a community in this area that made pots and cooking utensils until known for a long time since the Rattanakosin era.
Those who bring a private car can park their car at The Old Siam Shopping Plaza, which is not far.
