Map Ta Phut Port, Thailand’s industrial port, is a modern world-class port with high potential for general goods, liquid goods, and natural gas. It can accommodate 64,000 DWT tankers.
Besides being a leader in the petroleum industry, this large port is also the center of the refinery in Asia. With comprehensive service, support logistics systems and significant utilities on water and land, including waterway, buoys and pilot lights, communication and traffic systems.
And related utilities and facilitating the service with the Smart Port system, which has been continuously developed in the Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate, a large industrial area in Rayong Province.
The Port of Map Ta Phut, adjacent to the Thai Gulf’s east coast, has very convenient land and sea access as Laem Chabang Port.
As Rayong’s important industrial port, it is connected to various highways with many routes and can expand the project.
This project mainly handles petrochemical, oil and energy products, and most of the products are bulk goods, whether dry bulk and liquid bulk. Currently, the project is constantly being developed to support the growing trade and export via container.
Located in Map Ta Phut Subdistrict, Mueang District, Rayong Province, this port was established under the Eastern Seaboard Development Program (ESB) policy in 1982 and construction was completed in March 1992.
It is now part of the EEC structure to become a modern international industrial zone. The Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) is the supervisor and administrator; by renting concessions to the private sector to manage in the wharfs same as Lamchabang Port.
Export products are finished oil and crude oil, followed by hydrocarbons, refined oil from coal tar. Import products are finished oil, iron ore and steel, rolled steel sheets, organic chemistry.
There are 12 terminals, of which 9 are dedicated berths (including ports of the Thai Cement Group and PTT Group) — consisting of liquid cargo terminals, gas terminals, service terminals, warehouse areas, and natural gas continuity businesses.
Public Berths are not restricted to users. The Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand has invested in the construction of basic amenities, including all berths.
Dedicated Berths serve only private operators, who have to construct the berths and all basic facilities.
The condition of the waterways in the Map Ta Phut Port area consists of the Outer Channel and the Inner Channel, with a breakwater dividing the outer and the inner channel.
The Map Ta Phut Industrial Port consider as one of the industrial estates that is the leader in the eco-industrial city Eco-World Class “Eco-Industrial Town.” By aiming for sustainable industrial development, providing cost-effective resources and energy management, and increasing production efficiency.
As well as promoting economic development in the community, to the country’s economic growth, and encouraging the development of quality of life in the community and social sector, and quality environment for mutual benefit.
